Position Overview & Specifications

Full Time, Fixed Term for 12 months.

Bristol City Council’s Refugee Resettlement Team have two vacancies available for Housing Officers.

The team are specialists in working with families and single people who are refugees. Housing officers are responsible for working with Private Landlords across the city to secure accommodation for families and help them to sustain tenancies and gain independence.

The role is interesting and demanding, working face to face with a range of stakeholders including; clients, Landlords and contractors. The main purpose of the role is to secure accommodation and set up and manage tenancies.

In this role you will promote and provide advice and assistance; to prevent enable sustainable tenancies, you will advise on a range of housing solutions to landlords and tenants regarding their rights and responsibilities.

You must have excellent communication skills including negotiation and mediation skills and be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the relevant legislation. You will be communicating with people who have English as a second language.

You will also require excellent conciliation and mediation skills, to achieve effective understanding between groups with potentially conflicting objectives.

Please note that this role is subject to a Standard DBS Check.
