We offer one-to-one counselling in our dedicated counselling room or by client’s request/needs by phone or video.
Ideal candidates will have:
Person-Centred Counsellors Level 5 or above or those who are currently training to become qualified counsellors on their 2nd year.
Relevant experience in providing emotional support
BACP membership, or similar, or be able to observe Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy
Role Description
YMCA Burton counselling service provides individual counselling to clients who are facing difficulties. In a confidential setting, counsellors provide non-directive support to clients in exploring feelings, anxieties and life events that impact their emotional well-being.
· To provide individual non-directive counselling to clients experiencing crises and difficulties using a Person-Centred approach.
· To build and maintain positive trusting relationships with clients
· To maintain a non-judgemental, congruent and, respectful approach towards clients
· To support clients in developing a deeper understanding of themselves
· To maintain client confidentiality appropriately
· To keep accurate records of counselling sessions.
· To manage own caseload including, arranging counselling appointments
· Attend mandatory training
· To work within the wider multi-disciplinary team
