Position Overview & Specifications

We have an opportunity for a psychologist or CBT therapist to join our vibrant and respected Early Intervention Service (covering Bedfordshire and Luton). The post is fixed term for 12 months in the first instance. We have team bases in both Bedford and Luton, and the work requires us to be able to travel around the county; the use of a car is therefore a requirement for this particular post. As the service is for people experiencing a first episode of psychosis and their families, the post-holder will have experience, knowledge and skills in psychological formulation, assessment and therapies for psychosis and related experience.

You will join a large well-integrated multi-disciplinary team. The psychological therapies workforce are immersed in the MDT and include 3 Psychologists, 2 CBT Therapists and Assistant Psychologists.

The post holder will provide specialist psychological assessments, formulations and therapies for people experiencing psychosis, specialist risk assessments and advice on risk management, and provide psychological advice and consultation to others involved in service user care. They will ensure that all members of the multidisciplinary team have access to a psychologically based framework for understanding clients through the provision of advice, consultation and the dissemination of psychological research and theory.

The clinical work is undertaken in a range of inpatient and community resources including the client’s own home. The geographical area covered by the service requires the post-holder to drive.

Our mission is to make a positive difference to people's lives by improving the quality of life for all we serve. Our values are: We Care, We Respect, We are Inclusive – so we are looking for people who live and breathe these qualities when supporting service users and carers, and in their relationships with colleagues in the Trust and our partner organisations

The post holder will provide specialist teaching and supervision and advice concerning the assessment, formulation and treatment of this client group. They will regularly attend multi-disciplinary team meetings. The post holder will utilise research skills for audit, policy, research and service development within the service as a whole and specifically for psychology within the service. They will keep up to date with policy development, and work with the team to implement policy changes within the area served by the team.

The post holder will participate in CPD and other developmental activities, keeping up to date with relevant psychological research and national guidance. They will attend clinical, professional and managerial supervision.
