Position Overview & Specifications

Contract Type: Full Time - Permanent
Location: Stratford - London, E15 4PH, Sale Point - Manchester, M33 6AG or Cray House, Sidcup, DA14 5HU
Persona: Agile with visits to site required.
Salary: London weighted starting from £36,091. Outside London - Regional from £31,652

We are looking for a Health and Safety professional experienced in construction, repairs, and maintenance. Working in our specialist Corporate Health and Safety Department reporting to the Principal Health and Safety Officer. This role will be dedicated to providing safety advice and operational support to Direct Maintenance teams. You will work closely with operational teams such as repairs, maintenance, DLO & contractors. This will include advising on operational safety matters, safety performance monitoring, guidance, and support the development of H&S procedures.


To be shortlisted you must be able to clearly demonstrate the following:


  • Be professionally competent with a minimum of NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate
  • Strong understanding of H&S legislation applicable to housing and/or maintenance sector
  • Experience in writing and review of risk assessments and method statements.
  • Experience of supporting operational teams to deliver site inspections
  • Excellent IT skills & experience inc. M/S Office suite.

The following will form part of duties and responsibilities applicable to this role (but not limited to)


  • Review and support investigations of Accidents/incidents and near misses, including asbestos orientated incidents.
  • Communicate Health & Safety information and instruction
  • Deliver H&S training
  • Monitor Health & Safety activity and participate in site inspections to ensure arrangements are effective and are strengthening L&Q’s overall management of H&S
  • Ensure site inspection/incidents spreadsheets are up to date, and all corrective actions are undertaken. Supply and deliver accident/incident data for the weekly Corporate H&S meeting
  • Work collaboratively and actively supporting and promoting all activities within the team.
  • Monitor and manage the safety team email inbox
  • Attend contractor H&S meeting as and when required to ensure compliance has been adhered to.
  • Assist in preparing the monthly toolbox talks, attend and deliver toolbox talks
  • To write and review risk assessment, COSHH assessment, SOP’s and method statements and general Health and Safety documentation as and when required.
