Position Overview & Specifications

An opportunity has arisen for a Registered Dental Nurse to join our Oral Surgery Team.

The applicant must hold a National Certificate in Dental Nursing or NVQ Level 3 in Oral Health Care.

An in depth knowledge of specialist dental procedures is essential as well as cross infection awareness.

Good communication skills are essential and you must be able to work as part of a team or independently.

As a Registered Dental Nurse you will be responsible for supporting your manager in ensuring that our service users’ needs are met through the delivery of high quality care.

The successful applicant will provide chairside assistance to all grades of staff and dental students working within the Dental Hospital.

The job involves preparing instruments and equipment required for treatment and supporting patients undergoing a variety of procedures.

Patient confidentiality is essential as is the ability to work as part of a busy team.

The job involves administrative assistance with regard to liaising with patients and other external agencies.

  • To provide chair-side assistance (including patients being treated under General Anaesthetic) to all grades of dental staff and students working within the dental hospital.
  • To prepare all instruments, equipment and materials required for treatment.
  • To provide care and support for patients undergoing a variety of treatments.
  • To provide pre and post operative instructions and advice, so maintaining a high standard of patient care at all times.
  • To ensure patient confidentiality is always upheld.
  • To provide administrative assistance with regard to liaising with patients and other external agencies.
  • To provide clinical supervision and practical training to student dental nurses and other less experienced staff on a daily basis.
  • To ensure that cross infection control, the cleanliness of the department, stock levels and equipment are well maintained.
