Position Overview & Specifications

Our team in Penzance, Cornwall, are recruiting for an experienced Life Skills Worker to join them in providing guidance to a diverse service user group. You will be responsible for promoting life skills to our service users to encourage a positive exit from the service. If you are passionate about changing people’s lives for the better, we’d love to hear from you.

You will be a compassionate and motivated individual with the ability to connect quickly with the people we support and external stakeholders. We are looking for someone who has demonstrable experience of working with substance misuse service users, as well as experience of delivering successful training or other group activities to clients and peers. You will be highly organised, with excellent communication skills and able to manage your time effectively.

Above all, we are looking for someone who is passionate about what we do, with a positive and engaging approach to our service users and staff.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Demonstrable experience of working with substance misuse service users
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering training or other group activities
  • Experience and understanding of health and safety, including assessing high-risk situations for service users
  • Demonstrable experience of working in the health, social care, criminaljustice or other specialist setting delivering training or other group activities
  • Ability to build effective relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability of prioritise and work under pressure with competing demands
  • Good communication skills
  • Sound knowledge of IT packages

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Please note that although this role is based in Penzance, there is the requirement to cover West Cornwall. This is a full-time position, predominantly working Monday - Friday (37.5 hours per week), however flexibility will be required to work unsociable hours. We may close this role earlier if sufficient applications are received.
